Very small narrow white galls along the lower veins as the leaves are expanding in the spring (ie weeks after the buds first break). The galls are attached to the vein in the middle, where they are widest, and taper to the ends, which often curve in various directions. Little to no disturbance is detectable on the upper leaf. The texture of the gall is hairless and smooth. Description based on similar galls seen on Quercus alba in late May in Michigan.

Similar galls have been observed on Quercus macrocarpa in Manitoba in June and in Wisconsin in April.
