Andricus wisliceni, new species

A small, globular gall, with a slight projection at base where it is attached to the twig; it varies in color from a yellow brown to dark brown, and some are mottled with purple and brown. It is hard, and contains in the center a small larval cell; diameter, 3 to 4 mm.

Nine female specimens, reared October 14, 1886, from galls sent to the National Museum by Mr. Albert Koebele, collected in Sacramento County, California, on Quercus wisliceni.

This cynipid wasp induces bright green, purple, beige, or white, mottled, round, monothalamous bud galls.
