Greg Froelich reports that he sent adults raised from the galls in the first photo on this page to Dr. Gagne who " compared the ones I sent him to Felt's "poorly" mounted male specimens and said they seem to be the same, assuming E foliosus is Felt's 'E fragilis.'" And, yes, E. fragilis is an old synonym for E. foliosus.

Separately, Erigeron serpentinus was added tentatively as a host based on its close relationship to E. foliosus and a gall observed in California in May. Erigeron blochmaniae (formerly E. foliosus var. blochmaniae) is added as a host due to its close relationship to E. foliosus and the finding of a gall that is a close match to the material sent to Dr. Gagne. Although neither has been confirmed as a host of R. erigerontis, confirmation by rearing is problematic because both are relatively rare endemics.
