Leafy-Bud-Gall Midge
Asphondylia foliosa

This midge induces round, monothalamous, single stem galls on creosote bush. When fresh, presumably in spring, the galls have numerous slender, green, leafy bracts that do not completely cover the base of the gall body.

This species forms a short, leafy stem gall (Fig. 1 b). Such galls are never found in aggregate as are those of auripila.
