A spherical plum gall on immature second year acorns. Light brown-red in color and rough in texture, resembling a Disholcaspis quercusglobulus gall. A cross section revealed a solid succulent interior with a single central larval cell.

Observed in Florida on Quercus nigra in June (2) and on Quercus hemisphaerica in June.

This gall is likely the agamic gall formed by the same wasp that induces this leaf gall in the spring.
