A spindle-shaped apparent swelling of the flower on Rhamnus ilicifolia and Rhamnus crocea, causing it to resemble a small club. The gall is mottled with shades of red usually ranging from bright to a maroon color. Galls cause swellings on the flowers and are apparently hollow.

Observed in California in May on Rhamnus ilicifolia and in October on Rhamnus crocea. This gall is also apparently known from several photographs on Flickr, also observed in California in March and November, among others.

In October 2021, Dr. Raymond Gagne received specimens and confirmed that they were of the genus Schizomyia.
