Small, hairless, bumpy spangles found on the lower side of leaves of Quercus alba. These galls are nearly flat, with substantially inrolled edges ringed with lobes reaching toward a slight nipple in the center. They are either green or orange-brown with red bumps, possibly shifting as they mature. They have been observed in August in Virginia and Ohio.
