Asphondylia uvarum Gagne, new species

Developing fruit may appear normal externally while the single larva inside each fruit quickly matures, but the seeds inside do not develop. The larva pupates inside the berry.

Damaged grapes with larvae of this apparently undescribed species have been intercepted at the United States-Mexico border. Adults were reared from the grapes in June.
