A moderately sized, white-shading-to-pink, circular gall shaped like a donut or life preserver, on Quercus alba and montana. In the center it is recessed with a central black papilla. Unlike Neuroterus umbilicatus, which it otherwise resembles (and was formerly misidentified as), this gall is typically found alone or in small numbers, not in the dozens. A similar gall has been observed on Quercus muehlenbergii.
