The mites are abundant in the folded terminal shoots, where their feeding apparently inhibits the expansion of the leaves. This results in the twisting of the folded terminal shoot and subsequent infolding, bending, and twisting of the leaf blade. Infested Bermuda grass may easily be recognized by the contorted terminal leaf blades ... This mite is not to be confused with Eriophyes cynodoniensis (Sayed), which also infests Bermuda grass but causes a rosettetype injury.
