Cynipanguina danthoniae n. sp

The spherical galls range in size from 0.5 to 3 mm and vary in color from green to straw yellow, the majority being straw yellow by late spring-early summer. Galls are found singly or in groups of fifty or more. Seldom are galls amalgamated; when such were found there was no continuity of the internal cavities.

The galls are most generally located on the leaves of D californica. However, galls have been found on the seed head stem. Groups of galls on the plant are found separated by non-infested areas of about 2.5 to 7.5 cm.
